Well this is another act of love and labor. Last weekend we went out on our sailboat and watched the Deep South Regatta. Found out it was much smoother to photograph from the sailboat than the motorboat. Each year for 57 years the International Lightning Class has held the Deep South Regatta at the Savannah Yacht Club. It is the first of three races in the Southern Circuit. My father in law helped start this regatta. This is the boat my husband and his family grew up sailing. My husband competed in the World's twice in this boat. Many fond friends and memories. Each year I photograph these great boats and the colorful show they put on. I must have thousands of photos by now but I still can't resist taking them and painting them. You will see many paintings of mine with these boats. It is rumor that this was their last trip to Savannah but I hope not.
We will surely miss them.

This painting is mixed media. It has a watercolor base with acrylic and painted on a special board so that it does not have to be under glass. It is varnished.
We have discovered that although Reese is a great sport about boating, he will never be a hunting dog. He heard the cannon fire from the race committee boat to start the races and he stayed below in the cabin most of the day. At this point he is venturing out from his hole.
